Minneapolis, MN – Southern and central Minnesota are in for a wintry week as two rounds of snow move through the region.

The National Weather Service (NWS) Twin Cities reports that the first system arrives Tuesday afternoon, with 1 to 2 inches of snow favoring southern Minnesota. Snow showers will linger into early Wednesday before a stronger storm system develops Thursday afternoon.

The second storm will likely bring the season’s most significant snowfall so far. Areas north of Interstate 94 are expected to see higher accumulations, with estimates ranging from 3 to 6 inches by Thursday evening. Temperatures will remain cold, with highs in the low 20s and overnight lows between 5°F and 15°F.

Drivers should plan for slippery road conditions and reduced visibility, particularly during Tuesday and Thursday commutes. Local authorities encourage residents to monitor weather updates, allow extra time for travel, and ensure winter emergency kits are available.
