Baltimore, MD – Snow is set to blanket central Maryland and surrounding regions tonight as a Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect. Residents should prepare for hazardous road conditions, particularly along the I-64 corridor, with snow accumulations of up to 2 inches in most areas and as much as 6 inches in higher elevations.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the advisory will remain in place until early Saturday evening. Snow is expected to begin late Friday night and intensify during the early hours of Saturday morning. The Allegheny Mountains could see the highest accumulations, while urban areas like Baltimore may experience slick bridges and overpasses.
Drivers are urged to use extreme caution, as icy conditions and reduced visibility could make travel difficult. Pedestrians should also exercise care on steps, sidewalks, and driveways. The NWS recommends staying updated on road conditions and avoiding unnecessary travel if possible.
