Gray skies and a crisp chill hang over Louisville this morning as southern Indiana and central Kentucky brace for another quick burst of wintry weather. Roads remain damp, and as evening temperatures drop near freezing, that moisture could freeze over — setting up slick patches on bridges and shaded roadways by nightfall.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, a mix of light rain and snow is expected late tonight across southern Indiana and central Kentucky. A dusting to a half inch of accumulation is possible by early Monday, mainly on grassy or elevated surfaces. Forecasters note that temperatures hovering near 30°F to 32°F could cause slick spots even where snowfall totals remain minor.

Commuters should use caution on I-64, I-65, and I-71, where light flakes or drizzle could create sudden icy stretches. The system exits early Monday, bringing a temporary break in precipitation before another light rain/snow chance develops Tuesday night into Wednesday.

While the workweek begins mild, temperatures trend downward midweek, keeping daytime highs in the upper 30s to mid-40s through Thursday. Another broader system forming over the Midwest could bring more organized rain and wet snow by Thursday night into Friday, continuing the region’s early December transition toward winter.

Looking ahead, long-range models show colder Arctic air spreading eastward December 11–17, which may push stronger snow bands toward the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley — potentially the season’s first significant cold blast for Kentucky.

Five-Day Outlook

Monday: Partly sunny, high 35°F.
Tuesday: Increasing clouds, high 45°F.
