Paducah, KY – A stretch of dry weather will hold through Thursday, but rain and thunderstorms are expected to return to western Kentucky and southern Illinois beginning Friday afternoon, bringing a multi-day wet pattern that could disrupt outdoor plans through Tuesday.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, scattered showers and storms will begin developing late Friday morning, with the highest chances—ranging from 55% to 75%—arriving during afternoon and evening hours across much of the region, including Cape Girardeau, Marion, and New Madrid. The risk of rainfall continues daily through June 17, with storm probabilities hovering around 40–70%.
Communities such as Hopkinsville, Owensboro, and Mount Vernon could see localized downpours and thunderstorm activity during peak heating hours each day. While severe weather is not the primary concern, residents should remain alert for brief periods of heavy rain, ponding on roads, and lightning delays for weekend events.
Temperatures will remain near seasonal norms, but rising humidity will make conditions feel more muggy, especially into Sunday and Monday. Officials urge residents to monitor local updates and avoid flooded low-water crossings if heavy rain develops.
Rain chances continue through early next week, with another update expected by Thursday evening.
