Paducah, KY – An Ice Storm Warning remains in effect until noon CST today as freezing rain, sleet, and snow continue to impact the region. Residents are urged to exercise extreme caution as treacherous road conditions and potential power outages persist.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, snow accumulations of up to an inch and light ice glazing are expected to worsen travel hazards, particularly on bridges and overpasses. Gusty winds reaching up to 30 mph could also lead to additional power outages due to ice-laden trees and power lines.

The arctic air mass accompanying the storm will drive wind chill values into the single digits or below zero later today, increasing risks for those without power. The morning commute is expected to be significantly impacted, with authorities recommending postponing nonessential travel.

Drivers who must travel are advised to use extreme caution, allow extra time, and maintain safe distances between vehicles. Residents are reminded to report downed power lines and outages to their utility providers.

Emergency preparedness steps, including keeping vehicles winterized and ready, are highly encouraged during this hazardous weather event.
