BOISE, ID – Southern Idaho residents can look forward to a unique sight tonight with visible Aurora Borealis activity in areas like Sun Valley, even as an Air Stagnation Advisory remains in effect. Those planning outdoor activities or traveling near major roadways like I-84 should stay informed of current conditions, as stagnant air can impact health and visibility, especially in valley regions.

According to the National Weather Service, the Air Stagnation Advisory will continue until early Sunday, with minimal wind and limited vertical mixing expected. Residents are encouraged to limit activities contributing to pollution, such as wood-burning and excessive vehicle idling. For those sensitive to air quality, such as children, elderly individuals, or those with respiratory conditions, outdoor exposure should be minimized to avoid adverse effects.

Sunday’s forecast brings mostly clear skies in the morning, with a slight 20% chance of showers before 11 a.m. Afternoon temperatures are expected to reach a mild 55°F, ideal for Veterans Day events on Monday, which will see a higher chance of rain. Monday’s showers could reach up to 70% likelihood, potentially impacting travel plans. By Monday night, cooler temperatures around 37°F and an 80% chance of continued showers will bring a chill to the area.

Looking ahead, Tuesday and Wednesday will continue the trend of cloudy skies and sporadic rain, with high temperatures near 50°F. As the advisory lifts on Sunday, air quality may improve, but residents are advised to monitor conditions, especially if they plan to travel or participate in outdoor activities.
