San Diego, CA – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for the San Bernardino County Mountains through 10 p.m. Tuesday as light snow continues above 6,000 feet, potentially affecting the evening commute for higher-elevation travelers.
According to the National Weather Service in San Diego, snow showers will persist through the evening with additional accumulations of up to one inch expected. While totals remain light, forecasters caution that cold surface temperatures combined with intermittent snow may create slippery and hazardous road conditions, especially on mountain passes and shaded areas.
The advisory includes high-elevation communities such as Big Bear Lake, Big Bear City, Wrightwood, and Running Springs, where light snow has already been observed earlier today.
Weather officials say the primary impacts will be slick roadways and reduced visibility at times, particularly for drivers traveling after sunset. The conditions may slow travel along key mountain routes, including Highway 18, Highway 38, and Highway 330, during the Tuesday evening commute.
Residents and travelers are urged to slow down, allow extra travel time, and use caution when driving in higher elevations. For the latest road conditions across California, the National Weather Service recommends dialing 511.
