Milwaukee, WI – Chilly temperatures across southeast Wisconsin Sunday night could lead to refreezing of melted snow and standing water on area roads, creating hazardous travel conditions. Temperatures are expected to gradually rise through Tuesday, though lakeside areas will remain cooler.

According to the National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan, another weather system will move in by Wednesday, bringing widespread rain to the region. Depending on the storm’s track, northern parts of the state could see snowfall mixed in, while thunderstorms are possible in southern areas. Residents are advised to stay updated on the midweek forecast for potential changes.

In addition to the freezing temperatures, gusty southwest winds and low humidity levels will create elevated fire weather conditions Monday afternoon, particularly in western Wisconsin. The NWS urges residents to use caution when burning outdoors, as dry conditions could lead to rapid fire spread.

Monday will bring partly sunny skies with highs reaching the 60s in most areas, though lakeside locations may remain cooler. By Wednesday, rain chances will increase, with possible thunderstorms bringing heavier precipitation to southern Wisconsin.

Residents should prepare for fluctuating conditions, exercise caution on roads overnight, and stay alert for potential weather warnings in the coming days.
