Houston, Texas – A stalled front sweeping into Southeast Texas on Sunday could trigger isolated strong to severe storms, especially north of I-10, from the afternoon into Sunday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston, a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) has been issued for areas including College Station, Livingston, and Columbus, with storms likely forming by Sunday afternoon and continuing into the overnight hours. Damaging wind gusts and hail are possible, and while rare, an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.

Cities north of I-10—including Crockett and College Station—face the highest risk for brief severe storms. Residents in the Houston metro area and surrounding suburbs may still see heavy rainfall and lightning, though the more intense activity is expected to remain farther north. Coastal locations like Galveston and Freeport are likely to stay under more general thunderstorm conditions.

Drivers should remain alert for rapidly changing conditions, especially if traveling along I-45 or Highway 59. Secure outdoor items and charge electronics ahead of potential power disruptions.

Storms may linger into early Monday, with further updates expected as the system evolves. Stay tuned for new alerts as the situation develops.
