Lake Charles, LA – Southeast Texas and southwestern Louisiana face significant flood threats as heavy rains continue through the weekend. A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until early Sunday, with 3 to 6 inches of rainfall expected, and isolated areas could see up to 10 inches. Residents are urged to avoid flooded roads, especially at night, and remain prepared for possible rapid water rise in low-lying areas.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Lake Charles, flash flood risks cover Hardin, Jefferson, Orange, Jasper, and Newton counties in Texas and extend through numerous Louisiana parishes, including Beauregard, Calcasieu, and Cameron. A Coastal Flood Advisory is also active for parts of southern Louisiana and Texas, warning of minor coastal flooding due to high tides and storm surge through midday Saturday.

The NWS advises motorists to avoid traveling on flooded roadways and to never attempt driving through standing water. If necessary, drivers should take alternative routes and avoid low-lying roads, especially near bayous and creeks, which may rise quickly during heavy rainfall events.

Extended Forecast:

Sunday: Showers and thunderstorms likely in the morning with potential heavy rainfall continuing in the afternoon. High around 81°F.

Veterans Day (Monday): Mostly sunny with a high near 81°F, providing a respite from the weekend’s stormy weather.

Tuesday: Sunny and dry, with a high around 80°F, bringing clearer skies to the area.

Wednesday: Partly sunny with slight chances of showers, high near 79°F.

Thursday: Increasing cloudiness with a return of potential rain showers.

Residents in flood-prone areas should monitor the latest forecasts and prepare for potential emergency measures. Local officials urge people to remain vigilant, especially if flood warnings are issued.
