Charleston, WV – Southeast Ohio and West Virginia residents are bracing for another hot and muggy day as temperatures are expected to surpass the 90-degree mark. Coupled with rising humidity, the National Weather Service forecasts that the day will feel even warmer.

According to the National Weather Service, isolated thunderstorms will likely develop across the region this afternoon into the evening, potentially producing strong winds and localized heavy downpours. Charleston will see a high of 95 degrees, while temperatures in Huntington and Parkersburg will reach 96 degrees. Clarksburg, Elkins, and Beckley will experience slightly cooler temperatures of 93, 90, and 89 degrees, respectively.

Looking ahead, the heatwave will continue into the week, with Charleston forecasted to hit 96 degrees on Monday and 95 degrees on Tuesday. Isolated thunderstorms will remain a possibility, especially during the late afternoon and evening hours. By midweek, a slight reprieve is expected as temperatures drop to the mid-80s on Wednesday and Thursday, accompanied by higher chances of rain.
