Detroit, MI – Southeast Michigan residents should brace for a snowy Thursday morning as a weather system moves across the region. Snowfall is expected to begin early, making morning commutes on I-94 and other major roadways potentially hazardous.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Detroit, snow will start before 11 a.m. Thursday, with temperatures hovering near 32 degrees. Wind chills as low as zero are anticipated, creating frigid conditions. By Thursday evening, up to an inch of snow accumulation is likely, particularly in suburban areas.

Drivers should plan for slower travel times and keep extra distance between vehicles. The NWS advises motorists to check updated forecasts and use caution during peak commuting hours.

Looking ahead, conditions improve slightly on Friday with mostly cloudy skies and a high near 35 degrees. However, another system is expected to bring a mix of rain and snow on Saturday afternoon. Highs will reach 34 degrees Saturday, but temperatures will drop sharply at night to around 12 degrees, increasing the likelihood of icy roads.

Residents are urged to stock up on essentials and prepare for potential power outages due to heavy, wet snow. Keep phones charged and have emergency kits ready in vehicles.

The five-day forecast shows a mix of clear skies and light flurries into early next week, with temperatures steadily staying below freezing.

Be sure to monitor local weather updates and take precautions to stay safe during these icy conditions.
