DETROIT, MI — Southeast Michigan will experience a mix of cool, dry conditions and weather advisories this weekend. A high-pressure system brings mostly sunny skies and near-average late-October temperatures, though overnight lows are expected to dip below freezing Saturday night into Sunday. Residents should prepare for chilly morning temperatures, especially if planning early outdoor activities.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Detroit/Pontiac, today’s high will reach the mid-50s with sunshine. Northwest winds will bring cooler conditions overnight, dropping temperatures to a frosty 32°F by sunrise Sunday. Sunday remains sunny, with temperatures once again climbing to the upper 50s, though another freezing night is anticipated as lows fall to around 34°F.
A shift begins Monday, as the dry weather continues during the day with highs reaching around 60°F. However, the NWS advises that clouds will increase by Monday night, and rain is possible late into the night and early Tuesday. By mid-week, temperatures will warm slightly, with highs in the 70s anticipated Tuesday through Wednesday, although rain chances will persist.
For those in the Saginaw Bay area, a Small Craft Advisory remains in effect until late tonight, warning of hazardous marine conditions. Winds will sustain at 15 to 20 knots, with gusts up to 25 knots, and wave heights are expected between 3 to 7 feet, especially near Port Austin and Harbor Beach. Boaters are urged to exercise caution.
This forecast offers Southeast Michigan residents an excellent opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, with Saturday and Sunday being prime days for seasonal activities before colder, rainy weather sets in. Prepare for subfreezing temperatures overnight and monitor local forecasts for updated rain advisories starting early next week.
