Detroit, MI – Southeast Michigan residents will enjoy clear skies and warm temperatures this week, perfect for viewing Tuesday’s highly anticipated Harvest Moon eclipse. High-pressure systems will keep conditions dry and sunny through Saturday, with highs ranging from 76°F to 85°F. Tonight, temperatures will remain mild, dipping to 52°F to 60°F.
According to the National Weather Service, increasing clouds may arrive mid-week, but skies should remain clear enough for Tuesday’s supermoon and partial lunar eclipse. The eclipse will begin at 8:41 p.m. EDT, with the peak at 10:44 p.m. During this time, around 8% of the Moon will be shadowed by Earth.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of these ideal weather conditions for outdoor viewing. Use binoculars or a telescope to maximize your experience. This is the last supermoon of the year, making it a must-see event. Be sure to head outside before the eclipse ends at 12:47 a.m. Wednesday.
