Jacksonville, FL – Thanksgiving Day plans may face interruptions in Northeast Florida as isolated severe storms and gusty winds are expected Thursday afternoon and evening. Residents along the I-10 corridor should remain prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Jacksonville, a cold front will bring strong thunderstorms with potential wind gusts of 40 to 60 mph. An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. The highest risk for severe weather stretches across the Suwannee Valley and Southeast Georgia.

Residents celebrating outdoors are advised to secure loose objects and have a reliable way to receive alerts, such as a weather app or NOAA weather radio. Travel disruptions are also possible due to wet roads and reduced visibility. Motorists should exercise caution, especially on I-10 and nearby highways, during periods of heavy rainfall.

Thursday’s forecast predicts highs near 80 degrees in Jacksonville before storms arrive late afternoon. Conditions will cool significantly overnight, with lows dropping to the upper 50s. Thanksgiving morning may start cloudy but dry before storm activity intensifies later in the day.

Looking ahead, Friday is expected to clear up with cooler, breezy conditions and highs in the 60s. The weekend will stay dry, with a gradual warming trend into the low 70s by Sunday.

Stay updated by checking weather.gov or local forecasts for the latest alerts and advisories as the holiday approaches. Planning ahead and taking precautions can ensure a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving despite the storm risks.
