Southeast Alabama, AL – Nearly 10 inches of rain drenched parts of southeast Alabama, Florida’s Panhandle, and southwest Georgia overnight, leading to dangerous conditions on roads and a continued flood threat today. A Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 p.m. for these regions as additional rain is expected throughout the afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Tallahassee, parts of Henry, Houston, and Jackson counties received between 6 and 10 inches of rain in a few hours, flooding many local roads. Residents are urged to stay off water-covered roads and follow the NWS’ safety message: “Turn around, don’t drown.”

With the ground already saturated, even small amounts of rain may cause rapid flooding today. The NWS warns that not all areas will receive heavy rain, but those that do could see several more inches in a short time frame. If you see flooded roads, avoid driving through them and report the conditions to local authorities.
