Mount Holly, N.J. – Residents across New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania should brace for another wet commute Tuesday as rounds of showers and thunderstorms push through the region, with some areas expecting up to an inch of rainfall by nightfall.
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, storms will continue overnight and intensify again Tuesday afternoon, bringing the potential for localized flooding and wind gusts. Rain totals will generally range from 0.25 to 1 inch, with heavier downpours possible in urban and low-lying areas such as Trenton, Philadelphia, and Camden.
The Tuesday morning drive may be impacted by ponding on roadways like I-295, Route 1, and I-76, while afternoon storms could further complicate travel across the Delaware Valley. Power outages and poor visibility are also possible during stronger cells.
By Wednesday, the region dries out with sunshine and warmer temperatures returning. Highs will climb into the mid-80s Wednesday and could reach 90 by Thursday in places like Cherry Hill and Wilmington.
Storm drains should be cleared, and residents are urged to avoid driving through flooded roads.
More unsettled weather could return by the weekend, but for now, the NWS confirms this is the final round of storms through Friday.
