Douglas, GA – A Freeze Watch has been issued for inland southeast Georgia from late Tuesday night through Wednesday morning, as temperatures are expected to fall near 32 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Jacksonville.

Forecasters say the coldest air of the season so far will settle across counties including Coffee, Wayne, Appling, Pierce, and Bacon, with widespread frost and isolated subfreezing conditions possible by sunrise Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures are forecast to drop below freezing in several rural and inland locations, increasing the risk to tender vegetation, outdoor pets, and vulnerable individuals such as the elderly and homeless.

Officials urge residents to cover sensitive plants, bring pets indoors, and ensure outdoor water sources do not freeze overnight. “Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold,” the advisory stated.

The Freeze Watch remains in effect from midnight through 8 a.m. Wednesday, and updates may follow as forecasters monitor how quickly temperatures fall Tuesday evening.
