Sioux Falls, SD – Warmer temperatures are on the way for South Dakota this weekend, but residents should prepare for icy conditions overnight. Daytime highs will climb above freezing, but melting snow could refreeze on roads and sidewalks, creating hazardous conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, Sioux Falls will see mostly sunny skies on Sunday with a high near 49°F. However, temperatures will drop to 32°F overnight, increasing the risk of icy patches on untreated surfaces. Monday will be even warmer, reaching 55°F, but gusty winds up to 25 mph may make conditions feel cooler.

Tuesday will bring mostly sunny skies and a high near 53°F before a slight chance of rain moves in Tuesday night. A 30% chance of precipitation could lead to slick conditions by early Wednesday morning.

Residents should exercise caution when traveling at night and early mornings, as melting snow could refreeze, leading to slippery roads. Warmer weather will continue through the week, with highs in the 50s and mostly dry conditions expected.
