Sioux Falls, South Dakota – Isolated thunderstorms are expected to move across eastern South Dakota tonight, bringing the risk of 50 mph wind gusts and small hail from Windom to Sioux City.

According to the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, the strongest storms are likely east of that corridor, with most other areas seeing periodic rain and cooler overnight lows between 39°F and 47°F. The threat continues into Wednesday, with scattered showers and storms likely across much of the region.

Communities including Brookings, Yankton, and Mitchell could see wet roads and minor travel disruptions, especially during the evening and early morning hours. Tuesday will offer a brief break with sunshine and highs reaching 76°F in the southeast before showers return by Wednesday. Breezy conditions are expected to pick up again Thursday.

Drivers should use caution during heavy downpours and be prepared for slick conditions, especially overnight. Stay weather-aware and monitor local alerts for any updates on severe thunderstorm activity.

Rain and storm chances will linger through midweek, with another round of showers likely Thursday night.
