Sioux Falls, SD – The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, has issued a severe weather outlook for this afternoon and evening. While the overall threat is lower, isolated severe thunderstorms are still possible, particularly near and east of the Spirit Lake/Spencer to Sioux City line.

According to the National Weather Service, residents with outdoor plans should have a shelter plan and multiple methods of receiving warnings in case severe weather strikes. The main threats with the strongest storms are damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail up to quarter size. Storms are expected to develop between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m., gradually weakening and moving east by midnight.

Northwest Iowa has the highest chance to see strong to severe storms. Urban and street flooding is possible in some areas. Tornadoes are not expected, but residents are urged to stay informed and prepared. For more information and updates, visit the National Weather Service Sioux Falls website.
