Sioux Falls, SD – Drivers on I-90 in South Dakota should prepare for light snow and reduced visibility through Saturday morning, creating potentially hazardous conditions. Local forecasters warn of light snow accumulating to a dusting, up to an inch in some areas, with visibility dropping below five miles at times.

According to the National Weather Service, light snow is expected to move eastward across South Dakota into western Minnesota early Saturday. Additional snow bands may continue developing near I-90 throughout the day, with south-southeast winds reaching speeds of 20 mph in the afternoon.

By Sunday, blustery conditions will dominate, with winds shifting to the northwest at 15–30 mph. Temperatures will start near 39°F Saturday before dropping sharply overnight to a low of 16°F. Sunday will see a high of just 13°F, paired with wind chills near zero.

The extended forecast shows clearing skies Monday and Tuesday, but frigid lows as cold as -3°F will persist. Drivers should remain cautious of slick roads and drifting snow through the weekend, especially during high-wind periods.

South Dakota residents are urged to monitor weather updates and exercise caution on highways, particularly I-90, where brief visibility reductions could occur. Prepare for colder days ahead by securing outdoor items and dressing for sub-zero wind chills.

For more detailed updates, check the National Weather Service or local meteorologists. Stay warm and prioritize safety when traveling this weekend.
