Sioux Falls, S.D. – Sunday will bring more unstable summer weather to eastern South Dakota, including Sioux Falls, where funnel clouds remain possible through the afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, scattered thunderstorms are expected to redevelop after midday Sunday, especially along and east of the I-29 corridor. Isolated funnel clouds may form as moisture-rich air lifts into weak wind shear aloft. While typically short-lived and rarely damaging, residents are urged to remain alert and seek shelter if clouds appear to rotate or lower.

Storm chances increase again Monday night into early Tuesday, with a 30% chance of thunderstorm activity after 1 a.m. Some storms could be strong, so residents are encouraged to charge phones and monitor local updates.

On Tuesday, partly sunny skies will return with highs near 86°F, but more storm chances linger Tuesday night and again Thursday. With heat building and humidity climbing, the threat for isolated strong to severe storms may rise later in the week.

Five-Day Forecast for Sioux Falls (Sunday, July 6 – Thursday, July 11):
