Sioux Falls, SD – A major spring storm is set to bring heavy rain, gusty winds, and snow to Sioux Falls on Tuesday, making for hazardous travel and difficult conditions. The system will begin early in the day, with rain transitioning into snow by evening, accompanied by strong winds up to 50 mph.

According to the National Weather Service, rain will develop before 3 p.m. Tuesday before mixing with snow later in the evening. Temperatures will fall to 35°F by the afternoon, and strong northeast winds will increase, making for dangerous conditions. The chance of precipitation is 100%, with little or no snow accumulation expected during the day.

By Tuesday night, snow is likely, with gusts as high as 50 mph creating patchy blowing snow and reducing visibility. New snow accumulation is expected to be less than an inch, but wind chills will drop significantly.

Looking ahead, Wednesday will bring clearing skies and a high of 37°F, though winds will remain gusty at times. By Thursday, another system could bring a chance of rain and snow before conditions clear up into the weekend. Highs will gradually climb into the 50s by Sunday, offering a much-needed break from the winter-like conditions.

Travelers should plan accordingly for Tuesday’s storm, as wet roads and high winds could cause delays. Stay tuned for updates and prepare for rapidly changing conditions.
