Sioux Falls, SD – South Dakota residents should brace for light snow and gusty winds moving through the area today, impacting travel on major roadways such as I-90. Accumulations are expected to be less than an inch, but the snowfall, combined with wind gusts of up to 40 mph, could lead to reduced visibility and patchy blowing snow.

According to the National Weather Service, the heaviest snowfall will last only a couple of hours in most locations. However, flurries may linger into Thursday night and Friday morning. Travelers are urged to plan ahead, drive cautiously, and watch for rapidly changing road conditions, especially on highways.

The extended forecast shows a chance of light snow returning this weekend, with colder air settling in early next week. Thursday’s high will reach 33°F, with snow likely through the afternoon. Overnight, temperatures will dip to 18°F, with flurries continuing. Friday will bring mostly cloudy skies, a high of 25°F, and calmer winds.

Heading into the weekend, Saturday will see a slight chance of snow, with highs near 30°F and lows around 16°F. Sunday is expected to bring colder conditions, with a high of 22°F and increased chances of snow.

Drivers and pedestrians alike should take precautions, particularly when visibility is reduced. Monitor weather updates and prepare for slick spots through the weekend.
