Sioux Falls, SD – South Dakota residents can expect frigid temperatures and brisk winds over the Thanksgiving weekend, with subzero wind chills likely. Friday morning will bring sunny skies but a high of just 22 degrees, while overnight lows drop to single digits.

According to the National Weather Service, a cold front will keep temperatures well below average into Monday. Wind chills Friday and Saturday morning could plunge below zero due to steady northwest winds of up to 20 mph. Residents traveling along I-29 or venturing out for Black Friday shopping should dress warmly and drive cautiously as icy patches remain possible.

Saturday is forecasted to be sunny but colder, with highs reaching only 21 degrees and lows near 4 degrees by evening. Sunday brings slightly warmer temperatures, with a high of 24 degrees, though brisk winds will maintain the wintry feel.

The extended forecast suggests dry weather through early next week. Monday is expected to warm slightly, with highs near 25 degrees and clear skies. Tuesday offers some relief, with highs approaching 36 degrees, before temperatures rise further into the 40s by midweek.

As the region endures these icy conditions, residents are encouraged to limit time outdoors and check on vulnerable neighbors. Ensure vehicles are winter-ready if traveling, and allow extra time to navigate potential icy roads.
