San Antonio, Texas – Scattered storms could dampen plans across western South Central Texas today, with the highest rain chances centered on Del Rio, Eagle Pass, and Uvalde through Tuesday evening.

According to the National Weather Service, the strongest precipitation potential lies west of I-35, where Del Rio holds a 65% chance of storms and Eagle Pass is at 70%. These areas will also see cooler highs in the mid-80s, compared to mid-90s expected in San Antonio, Austin, and La Grange. Rainfall is expected to taper off east of I-35, with minimal impact in places like Georgetown and Gonzales.

Localized downpours may reduce visibility and cause brief flooding in low-lying areas west of San Antonio. Drivers should remain alert on US-90 and TX-277 and avoid flooded roadways. Skies will remain mostly cloudy across the western counties, helping to keep temperatures several degrees lower than usual for early July.

Highs will climb steadily this week, with Austin and Eagle Pass forecast to hit 100°F by Sunday. Rain chances will drop to less than 10% across the region by Wednesday.

More scattered showers remain possible west of I-35 through tonight. Another weather update is expected early Wednesday morning.
