San Antonio, TX – Heavy rain continues to push across South-Central Texas, with areas near Cuero expected to receive up to 6 inches of rainfall by 7 p.m. Friday.
According to the U.S. National Weather Service in Austin-San Antonio, the heaviest precipitation is likely to impact the southern Coastal Prairies, while much lighter totals are expected west of the I-35 Corridor. Cuero and surrounding communities could see localized flooding due to rainfall rates exceeding 1 inch per hour during peak periods.
San Antonio, New Braunfels, and Gonzales are forecast to receive between 3 to 4 inches, while Austin and surrounding areas, including Kyle and Georgetown, could see 2 to 3 inches. Rainfall totals drop off sharply further west, with cities like Del Rio, Eagle Pass, and Rocksprings expecting under an inch.
Motorists are urged to drive cautiously, avoid flooded roads, and monitor alerts for flash flood warnings. Low-lying and flood-prone areas should prepare for rapid runoff and standing water, especially near creeks and drainage systems.
Despite the widespread rain, only minor drought relief is expected in the Hill Country due to limited accumulation. Rain is expected to taper off late Friday evening, but wet roads may persist into the weekend.
