Columbia, SC – Freezing temperatures are easing across Columbia as residents can look forward to sunny skies and calm conditions Sunday. After icy precipitation left some areas slippery, a gradual warm-up is expected, with temperatures climbing into the upper 40s.

According to the National Weather Service, clouds will clear throughout Saturday, leading to a sunny Sunday with a high near 47°F. Despite warmer daytime conditions, temperatures will drop sharply overnight, reaching a low of 25°F. This sharp contrast may cause slick spots on untreated roads, especially on highways like I-20 and I-77. Motorists should use caution early in the morning.

Monday will bring similar conditions, with highs near 46°F under partly cloudy skies, transitioning into mostly clear conditions by nightfall. Winds will remain calm, helping ease concerns about wind chill. The extended forecast shows a continued trend of sunny and dry weather for Columbia, with highs reaching 50°F by Tuesday and Wednesday.

The region is also recovering from icy precipitation earlier this week, which left surfaces coated in ice. Residents are encouraged to check for lingering hazards like icy driveways or sidewalks. Measurements of ice accumulation can still be reported to the National Weather Service for further analysis.

The gradual warming trend provides an excellent opportunity for outdoor activities, but residents are advised to bundle up during the chilly mornings and evenings. As sunny conditions dominate the forecast, Columbia is set for a brighter and more stable weather week ahead.
