Charleston, SC – Chilly temperatures and a chance of light rain are impacting Charleston today as a cold air mass settles over the region. Early-morning lows dipped into the upper 30s inland and the low 40s along the coast.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), light rain is expected to develop through the late morning, primarily between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. While precipitation will remain minimal, drivers on major roadways such as I-26 and Highway 17 should prepare for wet surfaces and reduced visibility during peak travel hours.
This afternoon, temperatures will climb to a high near 48 degrees before skies begin to gradually clear this evening. Overnight, temperatures will dip into the mid-30s under cloudy skies.
Looking ahead, sunny weather will dominate Charleston’s forecast for much of the week. Tuesday is expected to be clear with a high near 53 and light northwest winds at 5 to 7 mph. Overnight Tuesday, temperatures will plummet to a low of 33, bringing another frosty start on Wednesday morning.
By midweek, Charleston will see mostly sunny skies with highs nearing 47 degrees and lows near freezing. The warming trend continues Thursday and Friday, with highs reaching the low to mid-50s and mostly clear nights in the 30s.
Residents should dress in layers and take precautions against frost during early morning hours, particularly midweek. Keep an eye on your local forecast for updates as rain may return late Friday night into the weekend.
