Spartanburg, SC – Residents should brace for a soggy weekend as a rain-heavy weather system moves into the region tonight. Temperatures will be 10 degrees below normal Friday, with conditions intensifying through Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service, showers will begin Friday afternoon and turn into steady rain by evening, with patchy fog reducing visibility. Overnight lows will hover around 40 degrees. Thunderstorms are expected Saturday night, bringing gusty winds and up to half an inch of rainfall. Sunday will remain wet, with a high near 66 degrees and a 90% chance of showers throughout the day.

Travelers should take extra precautions, particularly on I-85 and Highway 29, where slick roads and fog could create hazardous driving conditions. Officials advise reducing speed, maintaining a safe following distance, and using headlights during low-visibility periods.

The five-day outlook shows clearing skies starting Monday, with highs reaching the mid-60s under mostly sunny conditions. However, rain chances return Tuesday.

Stay informed by monitoring local weather updates and heeding any advisories issued by authorities. As storm systems can intensify unexpectedly, preparation is key.
