Spartanburg, SC – Heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms will impact Upstate South Carolina today, with flooding possible in low-lying areas. Residents along I-85 should prepare for reduced visibility, ponding on roadways, and hazardous driving conditions during peak rainfall.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Greenville-Spartanburg, showers will intensify this afternoon and continue overnight, bringing 2 to 4 inches of rain through Wednesday morning. The heaviest rainfall is expected to fall in areas already saturated, increasing the likelihood of localized flooding. Motorists are advised to avoid flooded roads and exercise caution during commutes.

Tonight’s forecast calls for gusty winds reaching 23 mph and temperatures dropping to a low of 57 degrees. Showers will persist into Wednesday morning before clearing later in the day. Wednesday night will bring clear skies and cooler temperatures, with lows around 29 degrees.

Looking ahead, Thursday will be sunny but brisk, with a high near 49. The weekend outlook remains mostly cloudy, with highs in the mid-40s and a slight chance of rain Saturday.

This prolonged wet pattern poses a risk of flash flooding, particularly near streams and urban areas. Residents should monitor local alerts and secure loose outdoor items as winds increase. Be sure to check drainage systems and keep an emergency kit on hand.
