Columbia, SC – A tornado watch is in effect until 2:00 PM EDT Sunday for multiple counties across South Carolina, including Richland, Charleston, and Florence. The National Weather Service warns that conditions are favorable for tornado development, along with strong winds and severe thunderstorms.

Counties under the watch include: Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell, Beaufort, Berkeley, Calhoun, Charleston, Chesterfield, Clarendon, Colleton, Darlington, Dillon, Dorchester, Florence, Georgetown, Hampton, Horry, Jasper, Kershaw, Lee, Lexington, Marion, Marlboro, Orangeburg, Richland, Sumter, and Williamsburg.

According to the National Weather Service, residents should prepare for rapidly changing conditions and have a plan in place in case a tornado warning is issued.
