South Carolina – 3:00 a.m. Friday – South Carolina remains under a tornado watch early Friday morning as Hurricane Helene’s outer bands bring severe weather to the region. The National Weather Service has extended the watch until 8:00 a.m. Several tornadoes remain possible as supercells continue to form overnight.
According to the NWS Storm Prediction Center, areas from Charleston to inland parts of the state are at risk for tornadoes and high winds. Conditions remain dangerous, with gusts reaching 60 knots in some areas.
Residents should remain indoors and be prepared to take immediate shelter if a tornado warning is issued. The tornado watch also includes parts of southern North Carolina and central Georgia, where similar severe weather conditions persist into the morning.
