Columbia, South Carolina – Strong winds are stirring up hazards across central South Carolina Sunday, especially for boaters along area lakes near Columbia.

A Lake Wind Advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. EDT Sunday, with northeast winds between 10 and 15 mph and gusts up to 30 mph, according to the National Weather Service in Columbia. The advisory spans central South Carolina and portions of eastern Georgia, including Richland, Lexington, and Saluda counties. Local roadways such as U.S. Route 378, which parallels Lake Murray, may see reduced visibility and choppy waters near bridges.

Sunny skies will continue across the region through Sunday evening, but thunderstorm chances return Sunday night and persist into early next week.
