Columbia, SC – A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for portions of central South Carolina and east-central Georgia from 4 p.m. Tuesday until 9 a.m. Wednesday. Snowfall of up to 3 inches is possible in areas north of I-20, with localized amounts exceeding 3 inches in isolated bands. South of I-20, snowfall totals are expected to range from 1 to 2 inches.

Hazardous road conditions are anticipated during the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes. Drivers should exercise caution on potentially icy roads and allow extra time for travel.

Temperatures are expected to fall into the low 20s Tuesday night, worsening the potential for freezing on untreated surfaces. The advisory covers cities including Columbia, Newberry, and Orangeburg, as well as surrounding counties.
