Spartanburg, South Carolina – Storms could bring dangerous conditions to Spartanburg drivers Friday afternoon, with the highest risk between 2 and 7 p.m. on US-221 and surrounding roads.

According to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, thunderstorms are expected to develop after 2 p.m. Friday, producing brief downpours, gusty winds, and possibly small hail. While not all areas will see severe weather, residents are urged to remain alert for quickly changing skies and isolated strong cells.

Scattered showers and storms return Saturday, especially in the afternoon, with another round possible Sunday after 2 p.m. Despite brief sunny breaks, conditions remain unsettled into early next week.

Drivers should avoid flooded roads, charge devices ahead of potential outages, and secure loose outdoor items by Friday morning. Calm winds early Friday may give a false sense of security before the afternoon system builds.

By Monday, the area finally dries out, but thunderstorm chances return Tuesday and Wednesday with daytime highs staying near 84°F.
