Columbia, SC — A flood advisory for the Congaree River in Columbia remains in effect through early Monday, with water levels nearing flood stage. Residents are urged to avoid riverbanks along the Cayce and West Columbia Riverwalk due to hazardous conditions.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the river is expected to rise to 10.9 feet by Saturday afternoon. Flooding of low-lying areas downstream is expected, with water possibly receding to safer levels by Tuesday. At 10 feet, sections of the Riverwalk become inundated, posing risks to pedestrians and outdoor enthusiasts.

Today’s forecast brings sunny skies with a high near 59 degrees, accompanied by a northeast breeze of 5 to 10 mph. Clouds will increase overnight, bringing lows around 41. Sunday will see partly sunny skies with a high of 58 degrees before turning mostly cloudy by the evening.

Looking ahead, Monday will be mostly sunny with a high of 68 degrees, providing some relief before midweek rain chances emerge. By Wednesday, scattered showers are forecast, with a 30% chance of rain after 1 p.m. Highs will rise to the low 70s by Tuesday, maintaining mild conditions.
