Spartanburg, SC – Residents across Upstate South Carolina should prepare for dangerously cold conditions and light snow accumulation through Wednesday morning. A winter weather advisory remains in effect for parts of the region, including the I-85 corridor.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), sub-zero wind chills as low as 5 degrees are expected tonight through noon Wednesday. A second advisory for snow accumulation of up to one inch will remain in effect until early Wednesday morning. Officials urge residents to limit outdoor exposure and dress warmly, as frostbite and hypothermia can occur in minutes without proper precautions.
Areas east of the mountains will see wind chills in the single digits, with calm winds transitioning to gusts by evening. Light snow may make untreated roads slick, creating hazardous travel conditions, particularly on I-85 and surrounding highways. Motorists are advised to drive cautiously and avoid unnecessary travel.
Extended Forecast:
• Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy, chance of snow before 8 p.m., low of 16°F.
