FORT WAYNE, Ind. – A significant warm-up will bring summer-like heat to Northern Indiana midweek before chances for showers and thunderstorms enter the picture toward the weekend. Residents can expect breezy and much warmer conditions Wednesday, with temperatures climbing into the mid to upper 80s.
According to the National Weather Service Northern Indiana, the abrupt warm-up follows a milder Tuesday. Highs on Wednesday are set to reach between 83 and 87 degrees Fahrenheit. The dry and sunny spell will continue through much of Thursday, although a slight chance for a shower or storm develops later in the day.
The pattern begins to shift Thursday afternoon as a 35% chance of showers and thunderstorms emerges. However, the more likely period for wet weather arrives Friday and continues into Saturday, with a 40-50% chance for showers and storms across the region.
Temperatures will remain warm through the end of the workweek, with highs on Friday still reaching the mid-80s in some areas. Residents should prepare for the change in conditions and stay aware of any potential weather alerts as the weekend approaches.
