Los Angeles, CA – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for the Eastern San Gabriel Mountains and the Northern Ventura County Mountains through 10 p.m. Tuesday as steady snow continues above 6,000 feet, creating hazardous travel conditions across high-elevation routes.
According to the National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard, an additional three inches of snow is possible through this evening. Snow showers are already ongoing across higher terrain, including Mount Pinos, Mount Baldy, Wrightwood, and Lockwood Valley.
Forecasters warn that the combination of cold temperatures and continued snowfall may lead to slick and icy road conditions, especially along mountain highways such as the Angeles Crest Highway. Reduced visibility will also be possible at times, adding to travel challenges during the Tuesday evening commute.
The Weather Service advises drivers to slow down, allow extra time, and exercise caution when traveling in the mountains. Even light snowfall can quickly create dangerous conditions, particularly after sunset.
Travelers can check up-to-date road conditions by calling 511 before heading into the mountains.
