Grand Rapids, MI – Snowfall is expected to intensify this evening across central and southern Michigan, creating hazardous travel conditions through Saturday morning. Drivers on I-65 are urged to exercise caution as slick roads and reduced visibility could disrupt the evening commute and weekend plans.

According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 a.m. Saturday. Snowfall totals of 2 to 3 inches are expected, with isolated areas seeing slightly higher amounts. The advisory warns of hazardous road conditions, particularly on bridges and overpasses, where ice could form quickly.

Snow showers will taper off Saturday morning, leading to mostly cloudy skies with a high near 31°F. Sunday will bring a wintry mix, with an 80% chance of snow and freezing rain starting in the early morning. Temperatures are forecast to peak at 31°F before dropping into the low 20s overnight, making untreated roads treacherous.

Looking ahead, snow is likely Monday and Tuesday, with highs in the mid-20s. Accumulations will remain light, but drivers should remain vigilant as icy conditions persist.

Residents are advised to plan ahead, limit non-essential travel, and keep emergency kits in vehicles. Stay updated through local alerts and prepare for potential delays, especially on major routes like I-96 and US-131.
