Elkhart, IN – A Winter Weather Advisory will go into effect at 10 a.m. Friday, bringing snow and slippery conditions to northern Indiana, southwest Michigan, and northwest Ohio.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has predicted snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches by late Friday night. The advisory will remain active until 1 a.m. Saturday, covering counties across the tri-state region.

According to the NWS, snow is expected to begin late Friday morning, intensifying during the afternoon hours. Hazardous road conditions are likely to develop, especially during the evening commute. Officials urge drivers to exercise caution and reduce speeds on snow-covered and icy roads.

Affected counties include Elkhart, Noble, Starke, Pulaski, and others in Indiana, along with portions of southwest Michigan and northwest Ohio. Residents should plan ahead and allow extra time for travel.

“Slippery conditions could cause delays during peak travel hours,” the NWS stated. Motorists can access real-time road conditions by dialing 511.

The winter weather system is part of a cold front moving through the Midwest. The snow will taper off by early Saturday morning, but lingering icy spots may remain on untreated roads.

Residents are encouraged to monitor local forecasts and prepare for potentially slow-moving traffic. Proper winter gear and an emergency kit are recommended for those traveling in the affected areas.

Be sure to clear driveways and sidewalks promptly after the snowfall ends to avoid hazardous buildup.
