Pendleton, OR – Heavy snow is expected to cover Oregon’s Blue Mountains and Cascades through Sunday morning, creating dangerous travel conditions.
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for elevations above 4,000 feet, predicting up to 12 inches of snow in some areas. The advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Sunday for the Cascades and 7 a.m. for the Blue Mountains. Strong wind gusts up to 40 mph are expected, leading to blowing snow and low visibility.
According to the National Weather Service, areas like Ski Bluewood Resort, Meacham, and Tollgate will be hardest hit. Travelers should plan for slippery roads, especially on mountain passes. Tree branches may also fall due to gusty winds.
