Fort Wayne, IN – Snowfall is expected to blanket northern Indiana Friday afternoon into Saturday morning, prompting a Winter Weather Advisory. Residents should prepare for slippery roads and reduced visibility, especially along major routes like I-69 and U.S. 30.
According to the National Weather Service, total snowfall accumulations of 2 to 4 inches are forecast, with the heaviest snow expected Friday evening. Untreated roads will become hazardous, potentially disrupting Friday evening commutes. Wind gusts may also contribute to drifting snow and poor visibility.
Temperatures will remain below freezing, with daytime highs in the mid-20s and overnight lows dropping into the teens. Saturday will bring a slight chance of morning snow, followed by partly cloudy skies. Sunday’s forecast shows a brief reprieve with highs near 30 degrees, but freezing conditions will persist into Monday.
Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution. Plan extra travel time and ensure vehicles are equipped for winter conditions. The advisory will remain in effect until 1 a.m. Saturday.
Looking ahead, northern Indiana faces an arctic blast next week, with wind chills near zero Tuesday and Wednesday. Residents are encouraged to monitor forecasts and stay informed through the weekend.
