Frostburg, MD – Snow squalls and hazardous travel conditions are forecast to continue across the Allegheny Mountains through Thursday morning. Up to 6 inches of additional snow, with heavier amounts in elevations above 2,500 feet, could complicate commutes along I-68 and US-219.

According to the National Weather Service, snowfall will peak Wednesday afternoon into evening, bringing low visibility and icy roads. Hazardous conditions are expected along major corridors like I-68, US-40, and US-219 from the Pennsylvania state line to the West Virginia border. Wind chills as low as -10°F are also predicted, increasing the risk of frostbite for those outdoors.

Drivers are urged to delay or limit travel if possible and carry emergency supplies in their vehicles. Residents should prepare for sudden visibility reductions and avoid unnecessary outdoor exposure. Those traveling are advised to check live weather updates at weather.gov before departing.

The winter storm will subside by Thursday midday, with lighter snowfall expected into the weekend. Temperatures across western Maryland will remain below freezing, with highs in the low 20s through Saturday.
