Louisville, KY – Central Kentucky residents can expect scattered rain and snow showers today as a cold front sweeps through the region. Forecasters predict minor snow accumulations, mainly north of I-64 and along I-65, but warm ground temperatures will limit significant impacts. Drivers are urged to use caution, particularly during evening commutes when temperatures dip below freezing.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Louisville, snow showers will taper off late tonight, leaving cloudy skies and isolated flurries east of I-65. Temperatures today will reach highs of 38°F before dropping to the upper 20s overnight. Winds will range from 10-15 mph, making conditions feel colder.
Saturday offers a reprieve with mostly sunny skies and highs near 37°F, ideal for outdoor activities. However, nighttime lows will fall into the mid-20s, requiring residents to bundle up. Sunday continues the sunny trend, with daytime temperatures remaining steady at 37°F and clear conditions expected.
Looking ahead, a warming trend starts Monday, with highs climbing to 47°F under partly sunny skies. Rain chances return late Monday into Tuesday, bringing showers through Christmas Day. Tuesday’s high of 47°F will lead to possible evening precipitation and cooling temperatures for midweek.
Residents are encouraged to stay updated on weather conditions, especially during morning and evening travel hours. Monitor local forecasts and prepare for potentially slick roads today and tonight.
