Davenport, IA – A fast-moving snow shower is causing hazardous travel conditions across parts of eastern Iowa and western Illinois early Wednesday morning. Drivers are advised to proceed with caution as visibility drops and light snow accumulates on roadways.
According to the National Weather Service, the snow shower was located at 2:41 a.m. CST, moving east at 35 mph. Impacted areas include Davenport, Moline, Rock Island, Bettendorf, and Muscatine, along with surrounding towns such as Aledo, Cambridge, and Silvis.
The weather service reported visibilities as low as half a mile in heavier snow showers, leading to slick surfaces on roads, bridges, and overpasses. Affected highways include sections of Interstates 74, 80, 88, and 280.
Residents and travelers should prepare for rapidly deteriorating conditions and allow extra time for travel. Slow speeds and increased following distances are advised.
