Springfield, MO – Travelers along U.S. Route 65 in Missouri should prepare for potential snow Saturday, with a narrow band expected to bring light accumulations across central parts of the state. The National Weather Service reports a 50-75% chance of snow beginning Saturday morning and continuing into the afternoon.
While snowfall amounts are expected to be minimal, even light snow could create slick conditions on roadways, especially in areas north of Springfield. The snow band’s exact path remains uncertain, but central Missouri is most likely to see accumulations. In the Missouri Ozarks, snowfall is anticipated to be lighter or may not occur at all.
Temperatures throughout the weekend will stay cold, with Saturday’s highs ranging from 35 to 51 degrees and lows dropping to the upper teens and lower 20s overnight. Sunday brings drier weather, with sunny skies and highs near 39 degrees.
Residents planning post-holiday travel should monitor forecasts and exercise caution on the roads if snow develops. Officials advise keeping an emergency kit in your vehicle and allowing extra time for travel.
Stay weather-aware and check for updates as conditions may change leading into the weekend.
