Detroit, MI – Southeast Michigan residents should prepare for light snow Sunday evening, with accumulations that may impact roadways like I-94 and local commutes. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory, forecasting 1–2 inches of snow Sunday afternoon into Monday morning.
According to the NWS Detroit/Pontiac, the snow is expected to begin Sunday evening around 6 p.m. and continue overnight. Slick roads and reduced visibility may create hazardous driving conditions, especially during the evening commute. Residents are advised to exercise caution when traveling and to check road conditions before heading out.
Sunday’s high will reach between 28–32 degrees, dropping to lows of 16–20 degrees overnight. Blustery conditions will persist Monday, with temperatures peaking at 24–28 degrees.
The extended forecast shows colder air settling into the region. Tuesday’s high is expected to hover between 18–22 degrees, with lows dropping into the single digits. While Wednesday brings some relief with partly sunny skies, highs will remain below freezing at 20–24 degrees.
Those traveling should prepare for snow-covered roads, particularly Sunday night into Monday. Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle and allow extra time for travel.
